About This Sanctuary
| Boutaloke Lake |
Immerse yourself in the tranquility of a postcard-perfect highland town. Situated over 1,160 meters above sea level at the base of the famous Pindaya Cave hill, Boutaloke Lake (also known as Pone Taloke Lake) is celebrated as one of the cleanest and most peaceful natural lakes in Myanmar. According to enchanting local folklore, this is the very lake where seven fairy princesses from the celestial kingdom once bathed before being trapped in a cave by a giant spider. Today, the lake serves as a soothing centerpiece for the quiet town of Pindaya. Its glassy, reflective waters are beautifully framed by hundreds-of-years-old regal Banyan trees, curved golden temple spires, and a stunning backdrop of the Shan hills.
